Dan stated there are steps that can be taken and are implemented to be able to correct the problem.

·         Comments

·         Chief Jacobson mentioned that Ironwood now has a new Public Safety director.

·         Dan Simondsen, Sagola Township mentioned the fact that fire deaths need to be reported within 24 hours of the tragedy as this has just happened in his department and there is a lack of investigators.

·         It was talked about fire investigators for fire deaths in the UP as there are none available. It was felt that the UP Chiefs should write a letter to the Fire Marshal stating this concern.

·         Next meeting will be the Annual meeting in Calumet July 28th 10:00 am local time.

·         Jeff will contact the hosting agency to change the UP Chief’s meeting to 10:00 am because if it is held at the 11:00 time listed it will run into the next meeting.

·         Gary Johnson from Marquette County who is on the 911 board brought up narrow banding and mentioned that there is now grant money available for pagers and radios to EMS and Fire agencies. It was mentioned that the narrow band may interfere with pump and alarm systems so they need to be checked in your area.
