Fall Meeting Minutes September 25th 2010

 

·        Meeting called to order at 10:10 hours at the Wakefield VFW.

 

·        Membership represented

 

·         West Iron County VFD, Alpha-Mastodon VFD, Ironwood VFD, Republic Township VFD, Tri County VFD, Munising City FD, Wakefield FD, Bessemer TVFD, Spalding VFD, Ironwood TFD, Watersmeet FD, Breitung TVFD.

 

·        Pledge of allegiance said aloud.

 

·        Roll call of board members.

·         President Iverson – present

·         Vice President Caudill – present

·         Secretary / Treasurer Seppala – present

·         Trustee Yon – present

·         Trustee Jacobson – present

 

·        Introduction of Guest’s

·         Dan Hammer on double duty, Chief & OFFT

·        Approval of the agenda

·         Motion by Chief Yon and support by Chief Caudill. All in favor with none opposed. Motion carried

 

·        Approval of Minutes

·         Minutes of the July 2010 approved with corrections by Chief Yon and support by Chief Caudill. All in favor with none opposed. Motion carried.

 

·        Treasurer’s report

·         The treasurer’s report was accepted as printed by Chief Hammerberg with support by Chief Perlongo. All in favor with none opposed. Motion carried.

 

 

·        Communications.

·         Chief Iverson spoke of communications with Bill Nelson from the Michigan Chief’s about reimbursement for Federal land fire fighting. Autrain had trouble collecting. There was much discussion on the subject.

·         Chief Caudill spoke of having a representative from the forest Service at the spring meeting to talk about the subject.

 

 

 

·        Unfinished Business

·         Web Site

§  Chief Jacobson, Hammerberg and Seppala are keeping it as up to date as possible. If any department has anything they would like to add to it such as a link to their web site or an event they are hosting please contact them to have it put on the web site.

·         Training

§  Chief Caudill spoke about the late winter seminar

 

·        New Business

·        Reports

·         Fire Marshal Report

§  Dan Hammerberg OFFT representative spoke on behalf of the Fire Marshal

·         Office of Fire Fighter Training

§  Dan discussed the updating procedures of the IMS system and the need for the chiefs to assure that the information in the system is up to date including the names of the current fire Chief.

§  Discussed State training money available for the counties and the need to use it or let some other county use it so it does not go back to the general fund.

·         Fire Fighters training Counsel Report

·         Michigan state Fireman’s Association Report

·         NVFC Report

·         Michigan Chief’s Report

§  None

 

 

·        Comments

·        Jeff Moore is the new Fire Chief for Au-Train as Ken has resigned.

·        Discussed billing the Prosecutors for DWIL accidents

 

·        Election of Officer’s

·        President

§  Chief Caudill was nominated for President by Iron Wood VFD and support from Munising FD. Spalding Township FD moved nominations be closed. Chief Caudill is the new President.

·         Vice President.

§  Chief Perlongo was nominated by Alpha-Mastodon VFD with support from Iron Wood VFD. Watersmeet FD moved nominations be closed. Chief Perlongo is the new Vice President.

·         Secretary / Treasurer

§  Chief Seppala was nominated by Watersmeet FD with support from Iron Wood VFD. Nominations were immediately closed and Chief Seppala is still the Secretary / Treasurer.

·         Trustee’s terms were not up for election.

 

·        Next meeting to be held Saturday April 23rd 2011, 10:00 hours local time (est.) at the New Munising Fire hall on Mill street.

 

·        Adjournment

·        Motion for adjournment by Chief Yon with support from Chief Hammerberg at 11:32 hours. All were in favor with none opposed.
